Our Heritage
In 1942 Francis W. McMahon graduated from The Collier School
of Funeral Directing and Embalming in New York City. A lifelong resident of the City of White
Plains Frank began his long and prestigious funeral career.
In that same year Frank and his father-in-law George Tracy
founded the Tracy- McMahon Funeral Home, which at the time was located on North
Broadway in White Plains. In 1946 Frank
moved the funeral home and his family to its current location on Mamaroneck
Avenue and renamed it McMahon Funeral Home.
Several additions to the existing funeral home were made in order to
accommodate the growing population of the city and the surrounding areas. To this day the funeral home has one of the
biggest funeral chapels in all of Westchester. In 1964 Frank acquired the 100
year old Lyon & Hartnett Undertakers which was located on Main Street next
to City Hall.
He took the names with him
and to this day the funeral home is known as McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett
Funeral Home Inc.
His passion and commitment to give the people of White
Plains and the surrounding communities the best funeral service available
continues to this day.
Carrying on Frank’s tradition is his daughter, Marie F.
McMahon, president of McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc. Marie, a second generation Funeral Director
and a graduate of the Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science has
dedicated herself to carrying on her fathers’ legacy.
